On Tuesday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced an end to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. DACA protects about 800,000 people whose parents brought them to the United States illegally, but who have voluntarily come forward, paid money, and registered with the government upon reaching adulthood.

President Barack Obama instituted the DACA program in 2012. The vast majority of the people enrolled have no connection to the country from which their parents came. Some don't even speak the language. All are required to pay taxes and pay a fee every few years. None of them chose to come to the U.S., but all of them have lived here and made it their home as much as anyone born here.

The decision to end DACA is extremely unpopular, even amongst Republicans who realize that separating families so obviously and unnecessarily was a bad look. Except, seemingly, for Donald Trump's base and his AG. This photo of Sessions gleefully smiling just before he destroyed a million people's lives has been circulating on the Internet has enraged everyone:

During his speech on the end of DACA, Sessions said that it would now be up to Congress to come up with some sort of immigration law comparable with DACA, claiming the program has "denied jobs to hundreds of thousands of Americans by allowing those same jobs to go to illegal aliens."

"We are a people of compassion and we are a people of law. But there is nothing compassionate about the failure to enforce immigration laws," Sessions said.

"The compassionate thing is to end the lawlessness, enforce our laws, and, if Congress chooses to make changes to those laws, to do so through the process set forth by our Founders in a way that advances the interest of the nation," he continued.

Everyone is calling out how obvious his lack of true compassion is:

Can we deport Sessions to Antarctica? He would love it, since all he will be able to see is white.

His racism is the only thing keeping his cold, dead heart ticking

Sessions smiles because he knows. He's imagining all the praise he will receive from the many, many racists in his home state.
