Petition to Put Kobe Bryant's Silhouette on NBA Logo Gains 1.8 Million Signatures
Fans are also doing their part to honor Bryant, and they are now urging the NBA to change its logo to feature Bryant's silhouette. Currently, the logo features former Lakers player Jerry West. The logo change request was put forth with a petition on Change.org along with a mockup of what it would look like.
The petition was launched just two days ago by a Canadian fan named Nick, but it's already logged an astounding 1.8 million signatures. After the petition starting gaining traction, Nick explained that he wanted to "deeply thank everybody who contributed through signing and donating to the petition. When I started this I didnt expect much to come out of it my goal was 100 signatures at best...I hope with our effort that our dream does come true and we are able to see Kobe Bryant engraved into the NBA Logo."
As People reports, a number of athletes have supported the logo change, including NBA player Jamal Crawford and NFL tight end Zach Ertz.
