Osinbajo Speaks On Dumping APC Ahead Of 2023 Elections
The office of the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has reacted to the reports suggesting he wants to dump the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The report said to have originated from a leaked memo dated June 24, 2022, with reference number SH/VP/605/2./0, claimed Osinbajo had written to President Muhammadu Buhari seeking his permission to dump the APC.
The alleged memo titled ‘Permission to resign from APC,’ claimed Osinbajo cited family pressures and other personal issues as the reason behind his plan to resign his membership of the APC.
However, reacting to the said memo, the Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Publicity, Mr Laolu Akande said there is no single iota of truth in the memo or its content.
He said the memo is fake and didn’t originate from his principal.
“Where do you people even get these things from? Who gave it to you? Anyways, for the avoidance of doubt, the memo is fake. VP didn’t write any such thing,” Akande was quoted to have said by The Nation.
Naija News understands the memo which has now been confirmed as fake reads: “I have the honour to inform you that for sometime now, I have been having series of meetings and pressure from my immediate family members on some matters. One of the issues borders on my continuous participation in active and partisan politics, and by extension, my continuous membership of our party, the All Progressives Congress, APC.
“As a father and great member, whom without you, I would not be where I am today, regrettably, I write to seek for your permission to resign my membership of the All Progressives Congress, APC. However, if the timing of this plan is not convenient or acceptable by Your Excellency, I will surely abide by your decision and advice, which I will consider to be the final.
“Please accept the assurances of my highest regards and loyalty.”
