Fan-favorite magician Piff the Magic Dragon is set to blow the crowd away again on America’s Got Talent’s newest spinoff, AGT: Fantasy League. As we await for his comeback, it pays to know some quick facts about him. Here’s everything to know about him.
Born John van der Put, Piff the Magic Dragon kicked off his solo career when he performed at the Free Fringe Festival. After breaking the record for the highest grossing that night, he’s continued to perform on numerous stages and theaters, eventually attracting a huge following.
When he’s nearly becoming a household name, he introduced himself on television through appearances on Penn & Teller: Fool Us. Later, he flaunted his tricks on America’s Got Talent season 10, winning everyone with his funny antics and incredible tricks.
Through the years, he’s captured the heart of America with his Las Vegas residency. Piff has headlined the iconic Flamingo Hotel and Casino in the heart of the Las Vegas strip, with over 250 shows a year in the Piff the Magic Dragon Theatre.
Over the years, he’s had several guest appearances on Fool Us and AGT, further forming a huge fan base on social media. In 2020, he was voted one of Variety’s Top Ten Comics to Watch and scooped Best Comedian, Best Magician and Best Headliner at the Best of Las Vegas Awards.
Yet, Piff’s magic cannot do wonders if Mr. Piffles is absent. Mr. Piffles, the “world’s only magic performing chihuahua,” has been Piff’s secret weapon whenever he does magic. During their performances, Mr. Piffles has been levitated, laminated, shackled in a strait jacket and shot out of a cannon. They two may be a double act, but it’s glaringly obvious whom the fans love more.
He’s Set to Stage an AGT Comeback on Fantasy League
After joining AGT season 10, Piff tried his luck on AGT: The Champions. Unfortunately, he failed to advance to advance to the show’s top three.
Be that as it may, it seems that Piff has no plans on giving up unless he gets the title. Currently, he’s among the 40 talented acts that will compete on AGT’s newest spinoff.
Indeed, his addition to the Fantasy League Draft Pool is a much-anticipated aspect on the show. Even now, many fans are excited for his return and what new tricks he’s set to offer.
If you want to witness Piff the Magic Dragon’s journey on the spinoff, be sure to tune in on the show. America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League premieres Monday, Jan. 1 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and will stream the next day on Peacock.
