America’s Got Talent Season 17 returned Wednesday night for the first live results show of the season. Eleven acts performed on Tuesday, but only two of them made it through to the Finals thanks to America’s vote. Last year’s winner Dustin Tavella also returned to perform.
Two ‘AGT’ Acts Move on to the Finals
At the end of the first episode of AGT results, host Terry Crews announced that Drake Milligan and Avery Dixon were the two acts who made it through. These results don’t come as much of a surprise, considering they both received strong praise from the judges Tuesday night.
The Top 5 also included Amoukanama, Players Choir, and Don McMillan (who was in third place). Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to all three of these acts, in addition to Lace Larrabee, Oleksandr Yenivatov, Ava Swiss, Stefanny and Yeeremy, Amazing Veranica, and Ben Lapidus.
During the results show, Crews also teased that there would be one wildcard act in the Finals, so an eliminated act could return for another chance at the million-dollar prize. Another notable moment on Wednesday night came when Simon Cowell apologized for buzzing Stefanny and Yeeremy’s act the night before.
Season 16 Winner Dustin Tavella Returns to the Show
Wednesday’s AGT results show also featured a performance from magician Dustin Tavella, who won Season 16 of the show and now performs in the AGT Live show in Las Vegas. He welcomed judge Sofia Vergara to the stage, along with her Modern Family co-star Sarah Hyland.
Dustin performed an inspiring routine that started with him writing the word “MAGIC” on a board. His two sons then made an appearance to drop popsicle sticks on the stage. Vergara chose one of the upside-down sticks, which turned out to have the word “DREAM” on it. When Dustin flipped the board around, the word “MAGIC” was transformed into the word “DREAM.”
Avery Dixon or Drake Milligan could be the show’s next winner. Or it could be one of the other acts who have yet to perform in the Qualifier rounds. Catch the show next Tuesday night to see the next set of eleven acts.
