Raila, Ruto storm Kibra as by-election campaigns hit fever pitch

- ODM leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President went to Kibra hours apart of each other to each support their candidate

- Odinga thanked Kibra residents for their overwhelming support to Imran whereas Ruto urged the residents to vote Mariga, arguing he is the most suitable candidate

With less than two weeks remaining before the hotly contested Kibra by-election, it appears as if the city constituency has literally been turned into a political battlefield.

The ODM party leaders Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto on Sunday, October 27 stormed Kibra to each campaign for their preferred candidate in what seemed like a face-off between the two political antagonists.

In a tweet seen by TUKO.co.ke, Raila appreciated the people's strong support to his preferred candidate, Bernard Otieno Okoth alias Imran.

"We had a great time at the #KibraConfirmation rally and I wish to thank the people of Kibra for the great turnout and restating their commitment to support Benard Okoth Imran on November 7," said Odinga.

A few hours after Raila left Kibra, Ruto made a grand entrance into constituency and staged quite a show with the crowd going wild after upon arrival.

The deputy president was accompanied by Jubilee leaders including nominated senator Millicent Omanga, among others.

Hundreds of Kibra residents flocked to the ground where the Jubilee Party leaders convened their campaign rally.

Ruto, among other politicians allied to the ruling party, gave speeches as they drummed up support for their man Mariga.

The Kibra by-election is slated for November 7, 2019, with the main contest expected to be between Mariga and Imran.

Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi was disrupted during his campaigns for Eliud Owalo after rowdy youth stormed the Kamkunji grounds and started hurling stones at the ANC's boss convoy.
